United States: Joe Biden has opted not to pursue a second term in office.
On Sunday afternoon, Biden unveiled his decision and pledged to divulge additional information soon, according to reports.
“Serving as your President has been the pinnacle of my life,” Biden’s statement declared. “And although I had intended to seek reelection, I believe that stepping aside is in the paramount interest of both my party and the nation. My focus will now be solely on executing my presidential duties for the duration of my term.”
While Vice President Kamala Harris was specifically endorsed as his successor, he commended her in his statement for “being an exceptional partner in all our endeavors,” reports mentioned.
Subsequently, Biden expressed his “full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year” in a statement posted on X.
Reportedly, in a compelling call to action, Biden urged Democrats to unite and overcome Trump, stressing the significance of solidarity in the forthcoming election.
